The book of Proffesor Klain`s war memories is much more important than it may seem at a first glance. It is not just the recollections of a participant in the Croatian Independence War, a collection of adventures and humerous thoughts, or a psychiatric picture of the war, but a personal record of a time which has gone by and which must not be forgotten. The experience of our weakness and virtues, coping and being overwhelmed, unrealized dreams, unexpected disappointments and the cruel truth must remain part of the treasury of Croatian history, so that our future generations may have an easier task. Klain wrote a book which is least of all a book about his ego ( as he himself says) or his memories ( as it seems to us); it is a document of the beauty and perfection of a man`s soul, it is a scream from our heart, an invitation to a meeting about truth, and conscience.
